Looking to make a local impact? Wild Ones Mississippi Gulf Coast Chapter is guided by a volunteer board of directors who help shape our events, outreach, and community partnerships. Whether you’re a longtime native plant advocate or newly inspired, there’s a place for your voice and skills in our leadership team.
Chapter leadership is open to people with a wide range of backgrounds and experiences. While no specific expertise is required, the following skills can be helpful in advancing the chapter’s mission and operations:
- Knowledge of native plants
- Landscape design
- Advocacy or community organizing
- Fundraising or donor relations
- Marketing and communications
- Event planning
- Public speaking or facilitation
- Content creation (writing, photography, graphic design)
Previous experience on a nonprofit board is a plus but not expected. Enthusiasm, curiosity, and a collaborative spirit are the most important qualifications.
Wild Ones welcomes individuals who are thoughtful, collaborative, and committed to community-based conservation. Chapter leadership roles are open to people who want to share knowledge about native plants, support local projects, help organize events, and strengthen community connections. Educators, students, gardeners, activists, professionals, retirees, and others who care about natural landscaping are all encouraged to get involved.
You do not need prior leadership or gardening experience. What matters most is the willingness to learn, ask questions, and work with others. If you are passionate about native plants and eager to contribute, we encourage you to apply. Your voice, perspective, and energy matter.
